[Australian winter poem I wrote three years ago. Image of our farm dam. I am interested in the play of light, especially on water. I am interested in silence.]

light on white
trunks, cold bite
of westerly

comb back
gold tussock,
spark silver
streams of leaves

in dusk’s dark
ocean of trees:
whence, mind

asks, this sense
of silence within
the sound of wind
