the voices were carried on the wind

the voices were carried on the wind. found poem

you could actually hear the terror

the voices were carried on the wind
into

the screams were extremely loud
they were so close to you

you felt you could reach out
& touch them

the voices were carried on the wind
into every corner

my wife & I waved to them
they indicated they were on the phone

to someone which ended up
being 000

the voices were carried on the wind
into every corner of those

from their kitchen windows
as they prepared breakfast

Christmas Island residents saw
the human face of illegal boat arrivals

staring at them in terror
the voices were carried on the wind

into every corner of those houses
all over the nation
