Williga Inlet
[Williga Inlet is on the south coast of New South Wales. 'Boyd' refers to Arthur Boyd, famous Australian painter of the Shoalhaven River and district]
Willinga Inlet
floating the current, human turtle under a straw hat,
squinting through specs to turn Turner into Boyd
& hey presto suave spotted gum sprouts from red rock,
spiky casuarina, lichened grey-green, fringes
the clear blue salt pushing rippling glass swirls
in from the sea, overhead two gliding sea-eagles
interweave their amatory loops orchestrating
bird-throat panic throughout the hair of sundry trees
as a yapping dog off-leash frolics the sands hiding
nesting hooded plovers, the state’s last protected pair
